Hartsville waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the South Florence Bruins. The Red Foxes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bruins, too.
Hartsville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-13.
Hartsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Wilcox, who had 17 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Wilcox has posted since back in August.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Baylor Gregg, who had 32 digs. Hailey McManus was another key player, getting 13 digs and three aces.
Hartsville's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for South Florence, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.
Coming up, Hartsville will be taking part in a tournament against Mountain View Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Florence, they will venture away from home to face off against Crestwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
