Basketball Recap: Ravenscroft Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Ravenscroft had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-31 win over the St. Mary's Saints. Given the Ravens' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Saints are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ravenscroft's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Cronin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Cronin has become a key player for Ravenscroft: the team is 4-2 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 10-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Virag, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points along with seven steals and six boards.

The victory got Ravenscroft back to even at 14-14. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Ravenscroft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-38 win against Durham Academy on the 7th. As for St. Mary's, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-42 defeat against Cary Academy on the 7th.
