Basketball Recap: Nina Keltz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Briar Woods over Riverside

After flying high against Independence last Tuesday, Briar Woods came back down to earth. The Briar Woods Falcons took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverside Ram. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ram earlier this season, when they won 40-27.

Briar Woods lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nina Keltz, who posted nine points and three steals. Keltz has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Zaher, who scored ten points and five rebounds.

Briar Woods' loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Riverside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Briar Woods has already played their next match (against Stone Bridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Riverside has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Potomac Falls.
