Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Calvary Christian

The Central Red Devils will square off against the Calvary Christian Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Central's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central's offense. They came up short against Benjamin Russell on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, while the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Calvary Christian who was credited with the victory on Thursday. Calvary Christian got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Westfield School's two.

Brooklyn Vann and Avery Riera scored all three of Calvary Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Calvary Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Central skirted past Calvary Christian 2-1 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Will Central repeat their success, or does Calvary Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
