Baseball Recap: Father Ryan Find Success

Father Ryan put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pope John Paul II Knights a 7-0 shutout. The Irish haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ben Veit looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Andrew Buccola was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Leyton Stevens, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Father Ryan now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Pope John Paul II, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Father Ryan will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pope John Paul II: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
