Softball Game Preview: Lake Forest Spartans vs. Caesar Rodney Riders

The Lake Forest Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Caesar Rodney Riders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Forest has 14 straight victories, Caesar Rodney has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lake Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Smyrna, who was ranked tenth at the time (Lake Forest was ranked first). The Spartans put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-0 win on Thursday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Caesar Rodney couldn't beat Caravel Academy on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Riders lost 13-6 to the Buccaneers.

Lake Forest's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Caesar Rodney, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
