Flag Football Recap: Justice Brown's Menacing Defense Leads Helix over Santana

The Helix Highlanders earned a 34-27 win over the Santana Sultans on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

The critical scores for Helix came from Maliyah Domingo, Kerrington Morris, Serenity Williams, Lylah Galicia, and Kaiya Merlo.

One reason for the win was Helix's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Justice Brown. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Despite the loss, Santana still got an impressive performance from Cameron Udvarhelyi, who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 77 yards and one score. The Sultans' leading receiver Kylee Aziz was Udvarhelyi's top target yet again, picking up 75 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Helix's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Santana, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Helix will be playing in front of their home fans against Granite Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so the Highlanders' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Santana, they will face off against Steele Canyon at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
