Football Recap: Hatley Takes a Loss

Hatley dropped to 6-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They were outmatched by the Baldwyn Bearcats and fell 53-18. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

Despite the loss, Hatley still got an impressive performance from Tikiyu Buckingham, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also picked up 88 receiving yards. Buckingham also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making ten total tackles, and defending two passes.

As for Baldwyn, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.9 points over those games.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Calvin Price and Jourdan Crump. Price rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries while Crump rushed for 101 yards and a pair of scores. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Price a new career-high. Brandon Johnson also helped with two TDs in total.

Hatley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 22-14 victory against Walnut on the 24th. As for Baldwyn, they have also already played their next contest, a 38-28 win against Hamilton on the 24th.
