Baseball Recap: Union City Extends Winning Streak to Three

Union City entered their tilt with Passaic County Tech on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout. For the Soaring Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2022.

Union City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LJ Santiago, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Santiago has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. AJ Romero also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Union City's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Passaic County Tech, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Coming up, Union City will head out to challenge Hoboken at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Soaring Eagles 2.7, the Redwings 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Passaic County Tech, they will challenge Passaic at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
