Softball Recap: Scottsburg Takes a Loss

Softball Recap: Scottsburg Warriors vs. Clarksville Generals
Scottsburg had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it eight. They came up short against the Clarksville Generals, falling 17-4. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Scottsburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Pinto- Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Ellie Peacock also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for Clarksville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Clarksville's side, Aaliyah Watts made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Watts has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Clarksville let Kylie Raggard and Tiarra Lewis run wild. Raggard went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lewis went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Lewis has posted since back in May of 2024. Brooklynn Gillman was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Scottsburg will take on Borden at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Clarksville, they will challenge Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
