Basketball Recap: Orem Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Orem can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to the Pleasant Grove Vikings. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 63-54.

Orem's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Troy Kafusi, who posted 20 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aisa Galeai, who shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points and three steals.

Pleasant Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Brown, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Oliver Mosman, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Orem's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Orem does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Grove, they have already played their next contest, a 66-58 win against Wasatch on the 23rd.
