Baseball Game Preview: Westinghouse Warriors vs. Northside Mustangs

The Westinghouse Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Northside Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Westinghouse has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight losses, while Northside will come in with three straight victories.

Lake View hit Westinghouse with a nine-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Wildcats, falling 15-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Northside got the win against Steinmetz College Prep on Friday by a conclusive 19-4. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Isaac Reyes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Liam Schorr was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Westinghouse's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Northside, their record is now 12-9.

Westinghouse suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Northside in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
