The Crossroads Christian Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Lawrence Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Crossroads Christian sitting on three straight victories and Lawrence Academy on ten.
Crossroads Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cape Fear Christian Academy, sneaking past 2-1.
Crossroads Christian got a great performance from Bobby Bobbitt as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Crossroads Christian saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Crossroads Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Academy's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let North Hills Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nike Wiggins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Eason, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lawrence Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, their record is now 12-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crossroads Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lawrence Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Crossroads Christian might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Lawrence Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
