Baseball Game Preview: Marian Catholic Spartans vs. Brooks Eagles

The Marian Catholic Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Brooks Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marian Catholic is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Marian Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Saint Ignatius College Prep and fell 7-6.

Joe Baranski and Jonathan Trotter did some serious damage despite the final result: Baranski scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Trotter went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazarris Mackmore, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brooks lost 14-4 to Stagg on Saturday.

Justin Slaughter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Marian Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Brooks, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marian Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brooks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Marian Catholic couldn't quite finish off Brooks in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
