Bluffton and Woodlan are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Tigers will challenge the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bluffton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Bluffton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Southern Wells on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Griffin Morgan made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chanley Shaw was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bluffton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Woodlan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Bellmont. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Clayton Rosier made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Bluffton's record now sits at 10-5. As for Woodlan, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Bluffton came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodlan when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
