Basketball Game Preview: Pinnacle Panthers vs. Monument Valley Cougars

Pinnacle has gone 8-2 against Monument Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pinnacle Panthers face off against the Monument Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Pinnacle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Monument Valley likes a good challenge.

Pinnacle is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Telos, posting a 99-56 victory. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Pinnacle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Howell led the charge by going 12 of 26 en route to 32 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Howell a new career-high in steals. Joey Howell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine assists.

Pinnacle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.8 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.6.

Meanwhile, Monument Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 93-36 loss at the hands of Whitehorse.

Monument Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.

Everything came up roses for Pinnacle against Monument Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 73-37 win. In that contest, Pinnacle amassed a halftime lead of 44-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
