Baseball Recap: Greenfield Snags 14th Victory in Last 15 Games

Greenfield won the last time they faced Liberty Tech Magnet and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Crusaders. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Will Edwards was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Trey Morris looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Easton Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Baylor Vujicic was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Greenfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Liberty Tech Magnet, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Greenfield will square off against Madison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Liberty Tech Magnet, they will challenge West Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
