League recap: East Forsyth tops Page to extend winning streak

4A Conference 8 recap September 24, 2013

East Forsyth extended the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 8 this week by beating Page, 32-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Northwest Guilford was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Reagan. The Vikings came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.

East Forsyth's dynamic duo of Karson Sharpe and Ace Miller proved to be unstoppable against the Pirates, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sharpe threw for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns and Miller had 151 yards receiving.

Todd Willert's team's dynamic duo of Sharpe and Miller proved tough for Page to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Jameel Mack provided a threat through the air and on the ground as High Point Central lost to West Forsyth. He completed 16 passes for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 44 yards. Mack's key target this week was Jawan Foggie, who caught 10 passes for 121 yards.

Sharpe put up the best numbers in passing as the Eagles bested Kevin Gillespie's team.

Keenan Scott was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 145 yards as Northwest Guilford beat the Pirates. Teammate Anthony Harding added to the ground attack by rushing for 65 yards.

He went 12-28 with 1 interception.

Miller was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles defeated Page.

East Forsyth's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sharpe has thrown for 1,110 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Miller has 34 catches for 665 yards.

Ragsdale lost to Southeast Guilford 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jerry Gaither was a bright spot for the Tigers, as he ran for 91 yards in the loss.
