Football Recap: Orange Vista Comes Up Short

Orange Vista lost against Downey back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Coyotes were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the Vikings. While the Coyotes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 13-0 in the first quarter.

Orange Vista lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Khalil Abdul-Aziz, who threw for 297 yards and four TDs. Traycee Washington was Abdul-Aziz's top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Downey can attribute much of their success to Oscar Rios, who threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns.

Orange Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Downey, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange Vista will welcome Norco at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Downey, they will be playing at home against Millikan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
