Softball Recap: Clarkdale Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Clarkdale waltzed into their contest on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Ethel Tigers.

Kaela Edmonds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Clarkdale saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Ellington, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another was Mallory Meadows, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Clarkdale pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Ethel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Clarkdale and Ethel will both be playing Union the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Yellowjackets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 3:45 p.m.
