Basketball Recap: Harper Woods Takes a Loss

Harper Woods played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 59-38 to the Berkley Bears. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Bears are ranked 146th).

Berkley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Kirkwood, who went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and three steals. Kirkwood has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Madi Bonsall was another key player, putting up 14 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Harper Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Berkley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.

Harper Woods didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-45 victory against Pershing on the 26th. As for Berkley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-51 win against Chippewa Valley on the 28th.
