Football Recap: Hondo Comes Up Short

After flying high against Devine last Friday, Hondo came back down to earth. The Owls were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 26-25 to the Bandera BULLDOGS. The Owls lost against the BULLDOGS in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-6 score last time.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hondo fell to 4-1. As for Bandera, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Hondo and Cole will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. This will be the Owls' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Bandera, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Comfort at 7:00 p.m. The BULLDOGS will be up against the Bobcats/Deer's rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
