Basketball Recap: Whitnall Starts Season with Victory Against Kohler

Whitnall took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 73-59 win over the Kohler Blue Bombers. The Falcons' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Whitnall had a senior duo take command as Riley Ward went 9-for-18 on her way to 24 points and Ella Koch dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Koch is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Pitta, who posted 14 points.

Whitnall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-49 loss against St. Thomas More on the 25th. As for Kohler, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Green Bay Preble at 7:15 p.m. on December 2.
