Basketball Recap: St. Paul Falls Despite Big Games from Charlee Wegner and Zaya Lewis

St. Paul lost against Scotus back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Paul Wildcats took a hard 51-32 fall against the Scotus Shamrocks. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Shamrocks are ranked fifth).

St. Paul's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zaya Lewis, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and three steals, and Charlee Wegner, who put up nine points. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

St. Paul's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Scotus, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

St. Paul wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 39-19 defeat against Aurora on the 9th. As for Scotus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-52 loss against Humphrey-Lindsay on the 9th.
