Softball Game Preview: Williamston Hornets vs. Bath Bees

The Williamston Hornets will take on the Bath Bees at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Williamston put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Haslett a 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Olivia Yadav made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Shea O'Neil and Anabelle Wortman did most of the damage at the plate: O'Neil went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Wortman went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Wortman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie O'Brien, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Williamston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Bath was able to grind out a solid win over Saranac on Monday, taking the game 11-6.

Williamston now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Bath, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
