Softball Recap: Fort Wayne South Side Comes Up Short

Fort Wayne South Side extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the Fort Wayne North Side Legends, falling 16-3. The Archers were not able to make up for their loss to the Legends from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Fort Wayne North Side, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Fort Wayne North Side's part, Cadee Ross made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Ross a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Robinson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alayja Burnett was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Fort Wayne South Side will challenge Marion at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they will face off against Fort Wayne Snider at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
