Basketball Recap: East River's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If East River was feeling good fresh off their 79-56 takedown of Innovation last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East River Falcons took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winter Park Wildcats on Thursday. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winter Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elizabeth Riley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Riley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Duberke, who went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points.

East River's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for Winter Park, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

East River has already played their next match, a 55-40 victory against University on the 24th. As for Winter Park, they will challenge Master's Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Master's Academy is coming into the game with five straight wins at home, so Winter Park will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
