Basketball Game Preview: Hale Center Owls vs. Olton Mustangs

Hale Center and Olton are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Hale Center Owls will venture away from home to challenge the Olton Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hale Center took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-18 victory over Bovina. The Owls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Olton didn't have too much trouble with Lockney on Friday as they won 54-37. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Longhorns are ranked 1169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hale Center's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Olton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-8.

Everything came up roses for Hale Center against Olton in their previous meeting on January 10th, as the squad secured a 58-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hale Center since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
