Soccer Game Preview: Cross Keys vs. Clarkston

The Cross Keys Phoenix will venture away from home to take on the Clarkston Angoras at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cross Keys' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Cross Keys fell victim to Druid Hills and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Red Devils, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Red Devils are ranked 97th).

Meanwhile, Clarkston also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 10-0 to Northview on Tuesday. The Angoras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clarkston now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cross Keys, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Cross Keys suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Clarkston in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cross Keys was down 6-0.
