Preview: Altoona-Midway Jets vs. Chetopa Hornets

Having just played yesterday, the Altoona-Midway Jets will get right back to it and host the Chetopa Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. The timing is sure in Altoona-Midway's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Chetopa has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road.

Altoona-Midway posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tyro Christian and snuck past 45-42. That's two games straight that Altoona-Midway has won by exactly three points.

Altoona-Midway's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kieran Foster, who scored 19 points, and William Stackhouse, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Stackhouse also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Meigs, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Chetopa was beaten by Tyro Christian 67-30 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Chetopa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Tyro Christian is ranked 164th).

Altoona-Midway is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Chetopa, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Altoona-Midway against Chetopa in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 55-27 win. Will Altoona-Midway repeat their success, or does Chetopa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
