Basketball Recap: Bullard's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Bullard won the last time they faced Sunnyside and things went their way on Friday too. The Bullard Knights snuck past the Sunnyside Wildcats with a 69-65 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Wildcats are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Sunnyside lost, don't look at Malachi Barnes. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points. The match was Barnes' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Wilson, who put up 15 points.

Bullard is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Sunnyside, they moved to 15-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Bullard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-45 victory against Hoover on the 29th. As for Sunnyside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 78-57 defeat against San Joaquin Memorial on the 29th.
