Baseball Recap: Sacramento Comes Up Short

Sacramento was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Mesa Verde Mavericks, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 back in February.

Jaylen Crump was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Sacramento's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Mesa Verde, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacramento will host Vacaville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vacaville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Sacramento's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mesa Verde, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Center at 4:00 p.m.
