Baseball Game Preview: South Eugene Axe vs. Sheldon Irish

The South Eugene Axe will face off against the Sheldon Irish at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Eugene has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 26.

South Eugene came up short against Roseburg on Saturday, falling 7-1.

South Eugene saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gino Humphrey, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Jonah Alexander also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Sheldon had just enough and edged out Roseburg 4-3 on Tuesday.

Sheldon pushed their record up to 6-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for South Eugene, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

South Eugene skirted past Sheldon 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Axe repeat their success, or do the Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
