deveall mcclendon of Curtis Baptist ran for the longest rushing play in GISA 1A this season against Hancock Academy last week. Mcclendon's team topped the Rebels as he sprinted for 92 yards on the play and finished with 134 in all.
Curtis Baptist extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hancock Academy, 41-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Crusaders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Christian Reid threw for 53 yards and ian mcdaniel had 30 yards receiving. On the ground mcclendon contributed 134 yards. Alphonzo Meyer helped Curtis Baptist's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 23 yards.
Mcclendon was a passing and rushing force as Curtis Baptist bested Scott Handcock's team.
Mcclendon was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Trey Reid added to the ground attack by rushing for 83 yards.
Curtis Baptist's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Reid has thrown for 613 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Meyer has 11 catches for 244 yards.
A big matchup in GISA 1A this week will be when David Emanuel Academy takes on the Crusaders. The Eagles are currently in third, while Curtis Baptist is in first.
David Emanuel Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,992 from 13,342. The improvement was largely due to a 55-19 victory over Monsignor Donovan Catholic last week.
