Softball Recap: Fayetteville-Manlius Sets Scoring Season-High Against Auburn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayetteville-Manlius). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Auburn Maroons a 19-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Anna Arthur was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Fayetteville-Manlius was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

The win got Fayetteville-Manlius back to even at 3-3. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Fayetteville-Manlius will take on Oswego at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Auburn, they will host Fulton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
