Basketball Recap: Land O' Lakes Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jacoby Davis and Chartric Darby

Land O' Lakes lost against Wesley Chapel back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Land O' Lakes Gators took an 81-65 bruising from the Wesley Chapel Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by exactly 16 points.

Despite the loss, Land O' Lakes had strong showings from Chartric Darby, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Jacoby Davis, who went 7 of 8 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Brody Soldano, who posted eight points.

It was another big night for Ethan Hicks, who went 11 for 19 on his way to 34 points for Wesley Chapel. Hicks' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Peat, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Land O' Lakes has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Wesley Chapel, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Land O' Lakes has already played their next contest, a 73-52 defeat against Mitchell on the 30th. As for Wesley Chapel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-58 victory against Sunlake on the 29th.
