Basketball Recap: Desert Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Desert had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Lone Pine Golden Eagles 69-27. The Scorpions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-8.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Pine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Guerra, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Guerra a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Quezada, who scored 12 points and four steals.

Lone Pine pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Desert will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mojave at 3:00 p.m. on December 3. As for Lone Pine, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Boron at 6:00 p.m.
