Baseball Recap: Gilroy Gets the Win

Gilroy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against North Salinas on Tuesday. The Mustangs never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Evan Passama was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hernandez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Gilroy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Salinas only posted an OBP of .062.

Gilroy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for North Salinas, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Gilroy will be playing in front of their home fans against Pacific Grove at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Salinas, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Alisal at 4:00 p.m. on April 3.
