Football Recap: Angleton Skates Past Porter with Ease

Angleton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Porter Spartans 56-10. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Spartans are ranked 391st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Angleton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Duron out in front who threw for 152 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Wyatt Neyland helped Duron out on the ground, rushing for 78 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Angleton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. Leading the way was Kawarren Scott with four sacks. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 5.5 sacks on the season. Angleton got some further help from Wallace Thornley: he forced one fumble and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Special teams played a big role in the game for Angleton, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ace Simple, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Angleton's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Porter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Angleton will head out to square off against Pasadena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Porter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Bend Kempner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
