            Softball Recap: Dodd City Hornets vs. Whitewright Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Dodd City extended their losing streak  to six  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They came up short against  the Whitewright Tigers, falling  13-2. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing  6-5 to the Tigers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Whitewright, their victory was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 16-6. Considering they have won nine games by more than six  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
For Whitewright's part,  Taryn Minzenmayer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 12 batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned runs off   four  hits. Minzenmayer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with three  RBI and one  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Joslyn Jones, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with four  runs, two  stolen bases,  and three  RBI. Those  four  runs gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Zarah Prieto, who  went 2-for-4 with three  runs and one  double.
 Dodd City has  already played their next  match (against Saltillo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Whitewright, they have also already played their next contest,  a  16-6  win against Bland on the 23rd.
