Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Pickens Academy

There's no place like home for Pickens Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the South Lamar Stallions on Tuesday.

Tyde Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dalton Crowe was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jack Moss, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Pickens Academy pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Lamar, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-10.

Looking ahead, South Lamar will take on Sulligent at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pickens Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Stallions' game: after the Stallions faces off against the Blue Devils, they'll take on Pickens Academy again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
