Baseball Recap: Washington Find Success

Washington posted their closest victory since May 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Boonville Pioneers 2-1. This was payback for the Hatchets, who suffered a 5-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alton Ostby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Washington is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

Washington's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Boonville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Washington is set to take on their familiar foe Tell City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Boonville will square off against rival Forest Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
