League recap: Walters powers Days Creek with hot hitting week

2A/1A Special District 4 league recap: 5/7/12

Johnny Walters was on fire this week, as he led 2A/1A Special District 4 with a .667 average with eight RBIs. Meanwhile, Days Creek put together a 3-0 week.

First place in the league standings is up for grabs this week, as Umpqua Valley Christian sits just 1.00 games back of North Douglas/Elkton.

The Wolves boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. Days Creek's pitchers have been charged with only 122 hits and have struck out 169 batters. Devin Muir is tops on the staff with 55 Ks.

The Wolves, the season leader in runs scored at 146, added to their total with a league-high 32 runs this week. Tray Roberts leads the team with 21 runs scored and Walters has a team-high 14 RBIs on the year.

The Wolves's Walters led the league with six hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .288 and ranks first in the league with 19 hits.
