Softball Recap: Norwell Comes Up Short

Norwell dropped their record down to 10-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 21-0 to the Carroll Chargers. The Knights were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Chargers' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Carroll, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Carroll's part, Taylor Danley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Danley has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carroll got a massive performance out of Alexis Pee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Pee is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Tessa Patterson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Norwell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Heritage on the 10th. As for Carroll, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against DeKalb on the 9th.
