Baseball Recap: Lewis County Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Lewis County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Summertown, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Panthers never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Monday. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The result came thanks to Steele Moseley's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brayden Whitlow was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lewis County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Fletch Kelsey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lewis County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summertown only posted a batting average of .167.

Lewis County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Summertown, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

Lewis County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
