Basketball Game Preview: Pitman Pride vs. Downey Knights

Pitman and Downey are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Pitman Pride are taking a road trip to square off against the Downey Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Downey took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pitman, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, it was close, but Pitman sidestepped Gregori for a 46-44 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pride.

Meanwhile, Downey came up short against Enochs on Wednesday, falling 63-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Eagles since February 5, 2020.

Pitman will need focus on slowing down Solomon Paris, one of several Downey players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Miller, who posted ten points.

Downey's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Pitman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Pitman took their win against Downey in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 56-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pitman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
