Basketball Recap: Des Moines East Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Des Moines East and Mason City squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Des Moines East had to settle for second. They were dealt an 89-15 loss at the hands of the Mason City Mohawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Scarlets in their matchups with the Mohawks: they've now lost six in a row.

Des Moines East's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Mason City, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Des Moines East will be playing at home against Marshalltown at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Mason City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
