Baseball Recap: West Wolfpack vs. Mountain House Mustangs
West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain House Mustangs. The Wolfpack lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in March of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 22-0 score last time.
West saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Armstrong, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases. Julian Martinez Ortiz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mountain House, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-9 record.
West and Mountain House could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Wolfpack will challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (1051 vs. 341). Meanwhile, Mountain House (ranked 360th) will meet East Union (ranked 89th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
