Softball Recap: Marysville Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Olentangy, Marysville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thomas Worthington CARDINALS an 8-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the CARDINALS: they've now won eight in a row.

Josie Bumgarner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bumgarner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jaidan Hutchins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Hutchins is crushing it when it comes to home runs: she's launched at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Gwen Dyal was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Marysville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

The victory got Marysville back to even at 3-3-1. As for Thomas Worthington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Coming up, Marysville will be playing in front of their home fans against Grove City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thomas Worthington, they are taking a road trip to square off against London at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
