Baseball Recap: Darlington's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Darlington had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets a 10-0 shutout on Friday.

Ryder Morgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Darlington is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-6 otherwise. Morgan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shane Oliver, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Cambron James, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Darlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Darlington picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Lower Richland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5-1.
